Discover Clarkson Thai Cuisine

Tucked into the Ocean Keys precinct at 3/304 Ocean Keys Blvd, Clarkson WA 6030, Australia, Clarkson Thai Cuisine is the kind of local gem you stumble upon once and then keep going back to. I first visited on a busy Friday evening after hearing consistent praise in community reviews, and since then it has quietly become one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavour-packed Thai food in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The location is easy to find, with convenient parking nearby, which already makes it a practical choice for families and casual dinners. Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. It’s not overly formal, but it’s not chaotic either. The staff greet you quickly, and on my last visit they remembered a previous takeaway order, which says a lot about their attentiveness.

Let’s talk about the menu, because that’s where this place really shines. The selection covers all the Thai classics-pad Thai, green curry, red curry, tom yum soup, basil stir-fries-while also offering lesser-ordered dishes like larb and massaman beef. During one visit, I ordered the green curry with chicken. The balance between coconut cream, Thai basil, and fresh vegetables was spot on. According to research published by the Thai Ministry of Commerce, authentic Thai cuisine relies on achieving harmony between sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy elements. That balance was clearly evident here. The heat level was adjustable, and when I asked for medium spice, it came exactly as expected-flavourful without overpowering.

On another occasion, I tried their pad see ew. The rice noodles were cooked perfectly-not clumped together, not overly oily. This might sound simple, but achieving the right texture in stir-fried noodles requires precise timing and high heat, typically from a wok. The slight smokiness, often referred to by chefs as wok hei, was noticeable and added depth to the dish. It’s a small technical detail, yet it shows skill in preparation.

One thing I always pay attention to is ingredient freshness. The World Health Organization emphasizes proper food handling and freshness as essential to food safety and quality. From what I’ve observed during multiple dine-in and takeaway experiences, the vegetables taste crisp and vibrant, and proteins are tender and well-prepared. I haven’t encountered inconsistency, which is rare for busy suburban restaurants.

Portion sizes are generous. A single curry with rice is often enough for two light eaters, and that makes it good value for money. Many reviews from local diners highlight the same point-solid servings without compromising flavour. In a time when dining costs can quickly escalate, that balance between price and quality matters.

The service also deserves mention. During peak hours, there can be a slight wait, especially for takeaway orders. However, the staff communicate clearly about timing. On one particularly busy Saturday, I was told upfront it would take 25 minutes for my order. It was ready in 22. That transparency builds trust. In hospitality, managing expectations is just as important as delivering good food.

From a broader culinary perspective, Thai cuisine is globally recognized for its complexity and cultural heritage. UNESCO has acknowledged the importance of preserving traditional food practices worldwide, and while this is a small suburban restaurant, it clearly respects those traditions. The use of fish sauce, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and fresh herbs suggests an effort to maintain authenticity rather than oversimplifying dishes for convenience.

If you’re exploring dining options in Clarkson or nearby Ocean Keys, this restaurant stands out among local Asian eateries. It’s suitable for casual dinners, small group gatherings, or quick takeaway nights when cooking feels like too much effort. While it may not position itself as fine dining, it delivers consistency, flavour accuracy, and genuine hospitality.

Of course, like any busy local spot, availability during peak times can be tight, and reservations for larger groups are a smart idea. But overall, the experience feels dependable. Good Thai food should feel comforting yet vibrant, and here, that balance is handled with confidence and care.

  • Hands down some of the best curry puffs I have had in my life. The pastry was light and fluffy all the way to the coroners. The filling was full of flavour too. The chicken satay and pad Thai was a bit sweet for our liking and probably could have been more peanutty or spicy but that’s our preference. The crispy pork belly was crunchy and also full of flavour. Definitely get value for money. Wait staff are very friendly and the right amount of attentive. Recommend if you’re looking for good authentic Thai. We will definitely be back.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Clarkson Thai is hands down one of our absolute favourite local spots. The food is consistently amazing — the Pad Thai is packed with flavour, the coconut rice is perfectly fragrant, and the Penang curry is easily the best we’ve had. On top of the incredible food, the service is outstanding. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely remember their regulars, which makes every visit even better. It’s no surprise we’re frequent customers — quality food, great portions, and top-tier service every single time. Highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing Thai food in the area!

  • Good vibes. You walk in and you’re greeted by lovely staff. When I was there, there was a birthday on a different table and the whole restaurant broke out into song. It was lovely and made it feel very homey. The food was absolutely delicious!!! You could tell the veggies were fresh and the sauce had just the right amount of spice for me (a person with low spice tolerance). The staff was warm and asked us how our meal was, and had a good chat with them about the business and working in hospitality. Everyone just seamed happy; which I really appreciated. I will definitely return as all the dishes going past for other customers looked sooo good! A small place that is a gem I’m so glad I found it

  • Our new favourite Thai. First time to the lovely little family restaurant. Great service and fantastic tasty food. Started with the coconut prawns for entree ( superbly tender prawn and crunchy coconut coating ) and continued through the mains. Great value - We’ll be back for sure !

  • Thai milk tea was delicious. My tom yum to start with was really good like one of the best I’ve had but it quickly got incredibly salty/overbearing which I was really confused about so I couldn’t finish it, I told the lady at the counter and she was accepting and told me what could have caused it, I appreciate how nice you were towards us.
